Dr Previn Diwakar is a Consultant Vascular and Interventional Radiologist. As well as working at Veincentre, he is Clinical Lead for Interventional Radiology at Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is a leading internationally recognised teaching hospital unit at the cutting edge of the treatment of vascular abnormalities and cancer. He is also Chairman of the Strategic Transformation Programme for Interventional Radiology across Cheshire and Merseyside, where he is responsible for shaping strategic healthcare planning across the region.
He was born in Glasgow and grew up in Kent. He qualified in Medicine from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School in London. He initially trained as a Plastic Surgeon in Salisbury before specialising in Interventional Radiology at Barts & The Royal London Hospital. He is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the British Society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR), the Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists.
Previn has extensive experience in the minimally invasiveminimally invasive treatment of varicose veins and has been treating patients from around the world in London since 2011. In addition, he is internationally recognised for his expertise in treating pelvic congestion syndrome (caused by pelvic varicose veins) and has one of the largest European experiences of venous embolisationembolisation to treat it. He has lectured throughout the world and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on this subject.
He has a keen interest in technology and how it can be harnessed to improve health outcomes and improve our lives.
He is married to Lisa, has a young son, Oscar and a gorgeous black Labrador called Olive. Previn is an ardent Liverpool Football Club fan but when not at Anfield cheering on his beloved Reds, he loves exploring the world with his family, always managing to squeeze in a ski trip somewhere! When at home, he takes great pride in practising his culinary skills with friends and family.
Dr Diwakar has committed to working at Veincentre Liverpool on a Tuesday, meaning if you book an initial consultation in Liverpool with Dr Diwakar, all your future appointments will be with Dr Diwakar in Liverpool on a Tuesday.
Occasionally Dr Diwakar may open up a list on another weekday during our busy periods, however, we cannot guarantee appointment dates on any other day than a Tuesday.
