Varicose veins are a common problem, affecting up to 1 in 3 adults in their lifetime. They are usually a sign of an underlying venous insufficiency.
Thread veins can appear anywhere on the body but are mostly evidenced on the legs and face. They are more common than varicose veins, affecting up to 80% of adults.

Sarah started her nursing career 33 years ago qualifying as a RGN at the Blackpool School of Nursing. In the early years of her nursing career, she specialised in Care of the Elderly, Haematology and Cardiology. For the last 20 years she has been working in Endoscopy, 10 years in acute Endoscopy in the NHS and in the last 10 years managing an Endoscopy Department with an independent provider to the NHS. Sarah recently gave up her Endoscopy Management position but has remained with the company part time as their Endoscopy Development Lead supporting Endoscopy services and their teams across 8 sites in a number of ways but largely with achieving and maintaining their accreditation status (JAG). She also have a keen interest in Decontamination, Quality Management Systems and ISO accreditations.
Sarah joined Veincentre in late August and enjoys learning a new speciality and skills.
She has four children and two stepdaughters (all grown up), two rescue black labs (old but behave like children) and is currently looking after her daughter’s cat (Margo) whilst she works abroad.
Sarah has a keen interest in gardening, a hobby which her husband also shares and they enjoy growing their own fruit, veg, salad and bedding plants. They both also have a passion for growing ‘Hosta’s’, and have a rather large collection! Her dream is to own a polytunnel before she retires!!
