Mr Sharath Paravastu is a Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at Gloucestershire Hospitals Trust and is the Clinical governance lead for the unit.
He qualified in 2003 from prestigious Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, South India. He completed Basic surgical training in North Wales. During this period, he obtained Post graduate diploma in Advanced Surgical practice with the University of Cardiff. He then performed 3 years of clinical research at Manchester Royal Infirmary. During this time, he researched on microcirculatory flow changes during aortic aneurysm surgery. This work earned him Doctor of Medicine (MD) with the University of Manchester in 2010.
He started Academic Clinical Lectureship and higher surgical training in 2010 at the University of Sheffield. He obtained General and Vascular surgical training in Yorkshire and the Humber Deanery, where he developed extensive vascular and endovascular experience. In addition, he undertook an Endovascular Fellowship in Sydney, Australia in 2018. He started as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon in 2018.
Sharath treats a wide range of conditions including:
Varicose veins – specialise in minimally invasive (key hole) treatment of varicose veins (Laser, RFA, Foam and Glue techniques)
Hernias – open inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional hernias
Diabetic foot ulcers – has a special interest in management of diabetic foot ulcers
Carotid surgery – stroke prevention operation
Claudication operations – (to improve circulation) that include bypass and angioplasty
Abdominal aortic aneurysms – specialise in minimally invasive (key hole) operations to treat aneurysms
He has extensive research experience and a special interest in systematic reviews and research into endovascular management of vascular disease. He has published over 30 papers in peer reviewed journals.
As a consultant he developed the Vascular unit and currently is the Clinical governance lead. He loves spending time with his young family and is a keen badminton and cricket player. He follows tennis and Formula 1.
Mr Paravastu has committed to working at Veincentre clinics on the above day. If you book an initial consultation with Mr Paravastu, all your future appointments will be with Mr Paravastu.
Occasionally, Mr Paravastu may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods.
If you are unable to attend one of Mr Paravastu’s dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with the other consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/ date to book.
