Dr James Harding is a Consultant in Clinical & Interventional Radiology based at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) since 2010 where he is the Clinical Lead for Interventional Radiology.
His daily practice includes a wide range of minimally invasive ‘pin-hole’ procedures including treatment for uterine fibroids and adenomyosis with uterine artery embolisation (UAE), angioplasty for vascular disease, transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) for liver tumours, venous treatments in men for varicocoeles and in women for pelvic congestion syndrome/incompetent veins along with all aspects of modern Interventional Radiology teaching hospital practice.
He has worked actively performing and promoting the new procedure of Prostate Artery Embolisation (PAE) for men with obstructive urinary symptoms. Dr Harding was one of the early exponents in the UK of PAE since 2013. He is involved in research for this specialist technique leading one of the top five contributing centres in the national UKRoPE study, the first multi-centre research into PAE in the UK.
Dr Harding also performs a full range of diagnostic imaging services for both NHS and private patients including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI and fluoroscopy.
He trained in Medicine at the University of Bristol. His initial post graduate training was in General Medicine and Intensive Care including working for 6 months in New Zealand. He achieved membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2004.
He began training in Radiology in 2005 returning to Bristol and achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists in 2008 winning the Finzi prize in the Radiology section of the Royal Society of Medicine. He completed a period of higher specialist training with many of the UK’s experts in Interventional Radiology. He is an active member of the British society of Interventional Radiology (BSIR) and the Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology Society of Europe (CIRSE) as well as being a Clinical & Educational Supervisor for senior Interventional Radiology trainees at UHCW. He has presented several papers at national meetings and published a number of articles in national and international Radiology journals.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters along with outdoor pursuits including skiing, cycling, walking and sailing.
Dr Harding works at Veincentre Stratford-upon-Avon on a Tuesday. If you book an initial consultation with Dr Harding, all your future appointments will be with Dr Harding throughout your treatment journey. As such, it is important to note that if you opt to go ahead with treatment this will be undertaken with Dr Harding on a Tuesday (as will all future follow-up appointments).
Occasionally Dr Harding may open up a list on another day, especially during our busy periods, however we cannot guarantee appointment dates on any other day than a Tuesday even if a previous appointment was on a different day. If you are unable to attend one of Dr Harding’s dates and hence wish to switch consultants, you will need to attend and pay for a new consultation with another consultant prior to any treatment being undertaken. Please take care when choosing which consultant/ date to book.
Please note that due to holidays Dr Harding may not be available every Tuesday.
