    Profile

    Dr Suzie Anthony is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist and forms part of our Reading and Oxfordshire clinic teams. As a Clinical Lead of Veincentre, Suzie has extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of venous conditions.

    Suzie qualified in 1992 from University College Hospital Medical School, London. She continued her training at St Mary’s Hospital London, gaining MRCP, before embarking on a career in Radiology. During her radiology training at the Royal Free Hospital, London, she developed her interest in Intervention and took up her consultant post in Oxford in 2005, where she continues to perform a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures within the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals. In addition to treating varicose veins, she performs pelvic vein embolization, and embolization of arteriovenous malformations.

    She has had experience of medical management and has been influential in shaping strategic health care planning within the Thames Valley, promoting equity of providing diagnostic and interventional services across the region. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and a fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, where she has served on Faculty Board., helping to develop a national strategy for healthcare and imaging.

    Suzie is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Oxford, where she teaches anatomy and radiology to undergraduate and graduate-entry medical students and enjoys introducing young doctors to the opportunities provided by image-guided intervention.

    Suzie has an active interest in current research and is Research Lead for Veincentre, having presented at National and International meetings. We are currently involved in a National Clinical Trial (THRIVE), investigating the role of anti-coagulation within low-risk patients undergoing treatment for varicose veins.

    Outside of work, Suzie co-owns a classic yacht, berthed in Hamble River: holidays and weekends are spent racing and cruising within the Solent. She has also raced in the sunnier climes, including the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.
