Varicose veins are a common problem, affecting up to 1 in 3 adults in their lifetime. They are usually a sign of an underlying venous insufficiency.
Thread veins can appear anywhere on the body but are mostly evidenced on the legs and face. They are more common than varicose veins, affecting up to 80% of adults.
Leg ulcers appear as broken skin in the lower leg or feet. We have been successfully treating venous leg ulcers for over 20 years.

Our aim is to be as transparent as possible regarding our prices.
Over 90% of our patients’ treatment plans fall into one of the below examples. These examples outline the total costs involved in diagnosing and treating varicose and thread veins at Veincentre.
All our prices are upfront and fixed per leg or per session, we do not have any “from” prices. Our prices include both the consultant and the clinic fee.
There is a lack of transparency with regards to pricing in most private medicine and as such we do not know of any other clinic that published the total cost for a patient’s entire diagnosis and treatment journey.
The exact veins requiring treatment will differ from patient to patient and so every treatment plan will be unique. As such the diagnoses described below are in very basic generic terms and do not indicate the specific veins requiring treatment however this does not impact on our prices.
It is important to note that our fixed prices for EVLA are per leg and do not increase depending on the number of veins needing EVLA or the presence of perforators.
We have included the national OPCS treatment codes for each treatment type below the examples to ease comparisons with other clinics. In addition, insurance companies require these treatment codes to confirm the treatment required and authorise accordingly.
Our Standard Patient Pathway outlines more information regarding the 4 Stages of Treatment.
Examples 1 – 2 = Varicose veins on one leg Examples 3 – 8 = Varicose veins on both legs Example 8 = Thread veins or very minor varicose veins only
Example 1: Patient has visible varicose veins and minimal thread veins on one leg only. Leg throbs and can itch.
Stage 2: Fix Underlying Cause EVLA treatment to 3 veins to restore healthy blood flow to the legs
Stage 3: Cosmetic Treatment A Foam Sclerotherapy session and Microsclerotherapy session at follow-up to treat the visible veins.
Example 2: Varicose Veins on one leg only (but more extensive than above example). Leg aches, itches and throbs.
+ Foam Sclerotherapy session
Foam sclerotherapy is advised alongside EVLA due to extent of varicose veins.
Stage 3: Cosmetic Treatment A Foam Sclerotherapy session and Microsclerotherapy session at follow-up to treat the remaining visible veins.
Example 3: Patient has visible varicose veins on both legs (worse on one) and a few thread veins. One leg constantly throbs and can itch whereas the other leg causes minimal pain.
Stage 2: Fix Underlying Cause EVLA treatment to 4 veins to restore healthy blood flow to both legs
Example 4: Varicose Veins on both legsPatient has visible varicose veins on both legs (worse on one). The leg left aches and has some minor thread veins. The right leg aches and swells and has extensive thread veins.
Stage 4: Further Treatment
Due to the extent of visible veins, the patient required a further session of sclerotherapy (Stage 4) after their initial follow-up.
*Depending on the extent of your varicose veins, you may require more than one session of foam sclerotherapy. If it’s likely that you’ll need an additional session, the consultant may suggest you have some injections at the same time as EVLA, to save you coming back again for them.
Example 5: Patient has substantial visible varicose veins on the right leg with a few thread veins. The right leg aches, itches and throbs. On the left leg there are visible veins but no known symptoms other than cosmetic.
Due to the extent of the visible veins, the patient was highly likely to require more than one session of foam sclerotherapy. As such, the consultant undertook sclerotherapy at the same time as the initial EVLA treatment (at a cost of £300), to save the patient returning for a further session after their initial follow-up.
Example 6: Patient has substantial visible varicose veins on the right leg and the leg aches, itches and throbs. On the left leg, there are visible thread veins, potentially varicose but no known symptoms other than cosmetic.
Stage 2: Fix Underlying Cause EVLA treatment on Right Leg but not on the Left.
+ Foam Sclerotherapy session on Left leg as the veins did not require EVLA.
Stage 3: Cosmetic Treatment A Foam Sclerotherapy session and Microsclerotherapy session on both legs at follow-up to treat the remaining visible veins.
Example 7: Veins on both legs; one worse than the other
Patient has multiple visible varicose veins on the right leg and the leg aches, itches and throbs. On the left leg there are visible thread veins, potentially varicose but no known symptoms other than cosmetic.
Scan reveals faulty valves in Right leg only. Left leg no reflux found.
EVLA required on Right Leg but not on the left. Both left and right leg treated with foam sclerotherapy at the same time as EVLA. Right leg required Foam alongside EVLA as the veins were extensive.
Example 8: Patient had small visible varicose veins on the right leg and on the left leg there were visible thread veins. Patient did not suffer with any known symptoms (other than cosmetic) on either leg.
Stage 2: Fix Underlying Cause Foam Sclerotherapy and Microsclerotherapy session on both legs
Scan revealed no faulty valves in feeder veins (i.e. no underlying cause hence EVLA not required).
Stage 3: Cosmetic Treatment If you are happy with results of treatment after first session there is requirement for you to attend for a follow-up. If however you still have some visible veins and would like a reassessment to see if you would benefit from an additional session we’d booked you in for a reassessment follow-up (not an EVLA follow-up). We have included the follow-up fee in this table however you may not require this.
Treatment Codes (OPCS)
If you have any queries regarding our prices please contact us. As mentioned above, we want to be as clear and upfront as possible regarding our pricing even before you have attended for a consultation, so there are no nasty surprises at your initial visit or at any point when you come to pay. We do not know of any other clinic which outlines their prices as transparently as we do including the full cost of the consultation, main treatment/s and any follow-ups you may require.
