All medical treatments carry some risk, but thermocoagulation is very safe. There is a low risk of temporary small scabs that resemble cat scratches. There can occasionally be tiny red marks that appear, but these can usually be eliminated through further treatment. No major side effects have been reported. Is any preparation needed? You will preferably attend with no face makeup, or be willing to remove it just before treatment. Does it hurt? It certainly can’t be described as painful, but it can make your eyes water when done around the nose! How long does it take? We usually give patients a 30-minute slot, with the actual treatment taking around 20 minutes. Is any aftercare needed? No. You can go straight back to normal life.
