Can vulval veins be treated with EVLA?

Can vulval veins be treated with EVLA?

No, vulval varicose veins have a different cause to regular (leg) varicose veins. Vulval veins are caused by valve failure within the veins of the pelvis and in the veins that drain the ovaries.

The treatment for this is different. It uses X-ray movie equipment to guide a special catheter into the vein that drains the ovary or in the pelvis.

This is, as far as the patients go, quite a quick and simple procedure to have done. It takes about half an hour, but it involves the use of expensive fixed X-ray equipment that is only be available in hospitals rather than outpatient clinics. So, if we’re going to do this procedure, we’d use a local private hospital.
